Egg (oocyte) donation is an established ART treatment for women who cannot use their own eggs. At Janini IVF, Delhi, we run a comprehensive egg donation programme using both fresh and frozen eggs, combining our expertise in egg freezing (oocyte vitrification) and donor IVF to deliver excellent success rates.
Our IVF Lab Director & Chief Embryologist Dr. Akanksha Mishra—a pioneer in oocyte vitrification, Oxford University (UK) postgraduate, and visiting embryologist to centres in the USA, South Africa, Nepal, Thailand, and India—has trained and supervised embryologists nationally and internationally.
In donor-egg IVF, healthy, screened donor eggs are fertilised with the husband’s sperm in the IVF lab. The resulting embryo(s) are transferred to the patient’s uterus. Pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding proceed as in any pregnancy. Genetically, the child is linked to the father and the anonymous donor.
No eggs left (natural menopause or premature ovarian failure)
Very low ovarian reserve (by AFC and/or AMH)
Surgical removal of ovaries
Advanced age / peri-menopause
Post-chemotherapy or radiotherapy
Known genetic disease in the patient
Rare congenital conditions (e.g., gonadal dysgenesis)
We recommend third-party reproduction only when it is the only viable route to pregnancy. If there is any chance of conception with self-eggs, that option is discussed first. We understand the emotional and confidentiality aspects and ensure the process is kept as private as possible.
Janini IVF maintains one of the largest donor programmes in Delhi with 500+ donors to select from.
Yes. Janini IVF follows ICMR guidelines and adheres to HFEA and ASRM standards. Donor programmes are anonymous:
Your preferences (blood group, background, religion, education) are recorded and shared.
Personal identifiers (name, address, ID) are not shared with you or the donor.
Known donors (family/friends) are not acceptable under ICMR norms.
Both partners sign ICMR-compliant consent forms.
Matching: We share your photo and profile with a third-party agency that matches you to the most appropriate donor from a large database, based on the characteristics above.
Recruitment & screening: After matching, donors undergo:
Ovarian reserve tests: Antral follicle scan and AMH to ensure good yield (quantity and quality).
Infection screen: VDRL, HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C.
Genetic screen: To rule out hereditary conditions (e.g., Thalassemia, G6PD deficiency, Sickle cell anaemia).
A detailed personal/family/obstetric/medical history and education status are recorded. Dr. Dalal personally oversees donor selection. The matching + recruitment process typically completes in a few days.
The donor receives daily gonadotropins for ovarian stimulation.
The recipient takes oestrogen to prepare the endometrium.
Oocyte pick-up (donor) is timed to recipient endometrial readiness.
The husband provides a semen sample on pick-up day (a frozen back-up is kept).
After fertilisation and culture, 2–3 embryos are typically transferred; surplus embryos are frozen.
The pregnancy test is done 15 days after transfer.
With egg donation at Janini IVF, clinical pregnancy rates are ~70–80% per attempt.
Skilled, experienced team; state-of-the-art technology
Tie-ups with professional donor agencies, including international partners
Transparency, ethics, consistently excellent results
Egg banking for fertility preservation (medical/social) and excellent frozen-thaw outcomes
Leadership in oocyte vitrification under Dr. Akanksha Mishra
How would we know the donor?
Donor programmes are anonymous per ICMR. You receive matched characteristics (appearance, blood group, background, etc.) but no personal identifiers.
Can we share a donor’s eggs with another couple?
Ask about current shared donor availability; matching follows medical/legal protocols.
What tests does the donor undergo?
AFC, AMH, infection screen (VDRL, HIV, HBV, HCV), and genetic screen (e.g., Thalassemia, G6PD, Sickle cell), plus detailed histories.
What is the donor’s age/marital status?
Donors are young, healthy women meeting medical and legal criteria via registered agencies (per ICMR).
Until what age can I avail egg donation treatment?
Suitability is assessed individually; donor-egg IVF is commonly used for advanced age and peri-menopause.
Can we choose the donor?
Your preferences (look, background, education, religion, blood group) are considered in matching; identity remains confidential.
Can we bring a known donor (family/friends)?
No. ICMR mandates anonymous donation via registered agencies.
What is a reasonably good number of eggs from one donor cycle?
Numbers vary by donor reserve and stimulation; selection ensures good oocyte yield (quantity and quality).
How long does matching and recruitment take?
Typically a few days once a donor is identified.
What ethnicities are available?
Agencies maintain diverse databases; matching aligns with your profile and preferences.
Will the child bond with me?
Yes. Pregnancy, birth, and bonding proceed as in any pregnancy; you are the one who carries and cares for the baby.
