Fertility Testing for the Male

It is seen that the husband is responsible for infertility in about 1/3rd to 1/2 of all cases. Unlike female infertility, male infertility is not that apparent. So a perfectly healthy male who is keeping fit and has healthy life choices also can have a poor sperm count or poor sperm motility. This makes it important to undergo a simple semen analysis. Unlike blood tests, Semen analysis cannot be done just about anywhere. It is important that the person performing your semen test is experienced and knowledgeable in that subject in order to have an accurate assessment of your fertility status.

What is Male Fertility Test?

The most important and basic male fertility testing is Semen Analysis. It involves a systematic and detailed examination of semen volume, pH, viscosity, sperm concentration, progressive motility and morphology by the experts at Janini IVF. Being the best ivf treatment center in Delhi, we usually prefer the semen sample collected at the facility only (instead of home) so that proper documentation is followed. Abstinence of 2-5 days is ideal although not mandatory for semen analysis.

We will give you a detailed report incorporating all the necessary parameters at the end of the test. A count of less than 5 million per ml is called Severe Oligospermia, and absence of sperms in the sample is called Azoospermia. The diagnosis of Azoospermia requires the sample to be centrifuged to look for cryptozoospermia. Severe oligospermia and Azoospermia patients will have to undergo additional testing (hormonal, imaging and genetic) for further evaluation and prognostication.
